First post from a casual circulation collector here... Was pleasantly surprised today when the ATM spat out a very crisp 1963a $20 star note! Some Googling has not produced any results for any star notes of this series from Richmond. This one is serial # E04564977* This is certainly the nicest looking note of this age I've ever pulled from circulation. No heavy creases or tears, just some minute wear on the corners, and fairly well centered. None of the 2004 bills that I also took from the ATM are nearly as nice as this one. Any input is welcomed!
Welcome to the forum. Always nice to have another paper colletor here. Your note lists at $150 in CU so I'd say it'a pretty darn nice find! clembo
Thanks for the replies. 150 would certainly be an unexpected treat! I was thinking more in the 40-60 dollar range at most. Probably worth having someone with more paper expertise give it a look and decide if it really does qualify as a true CU. Again, I've never run into a note of that age in such nice condition- makes me think that it "escaped" a collection recently...
Could be an "escapee" Whitty. What I quoted you was book retail so I wouldn't expect $150. Your guesstimation may be more in line actually but who knows. Bottom line is nice find and good eye! clembo
Some scans for you. A small lengthwise fold (of all things) is present, maybe from the ATM(?), and there are a couple of small dimples in the paper to the left of Jackson's portrait. Thanks for the replies!
I would give that an XF grade. Provided that is not writing on the face and the note still retains all it's original crispness. Congrates on the find.
