No offense taken that's why I'm asking questions I've seen a lot of videos and pictures and stuff but I'm very new to the coin world And am a hands on learner versus text book learner so I retain information better when engaging and what better way to engage than asking the experts
I appreciate different methods of learning, however, there are infinite numbers of ways coins can be damaged and you can’t possibly post every one of them. I suggest you do three things 1) Get yourself a Redbook of US coins 2) Learn the minting process. You can start by visiting usmint.gov and then do your own searches and research from there. 3) Do some searches and research old threads to see if you can come up with an answer on your own. Then you can post your coin with an explanation of what you think it is so others can validate. Once you have a solid understanding of how coins are minted, you will quickly be able to dismiss damaged coins like the ones you are posting and focus on whatever it is that you want to collect. I understand your desired approach, but you're never, ever going to figure things out until you first start out by learning what "right looks like". There are millions of damaged coins out there and you'd have to show us every single type on all different coins before we could finally educate you on the different methods of post mint damage (PMD). It would be much easier to teach you about the minting process and errors and then you can rule it out of the minting process. Much less to learn this way. Damage is Unlimited. Mint errors are limited in a very short process with defined steps by either human intervention or machine problems. Everything else is damage, which is beyond the scope of comprehension.
