Meow has found a bicentennial quarter with what looks like it has a very clean scratch. Meow suspects it might be a strike through debris. The quarter is very tarnished on one side, and shiny on the other. It must have been exposed to environment only on one side. Possibly hiding under furniture for years untouched.
Meow thinks you mean to point to the particular photo where the angle of the light, and the camera makes it look most like a strike through. Since they are all photos of the same anomaly, but taken at various magnifications and angles of light. And not photos of multiple anomalies. But anyway, the scratch seems a bit too clean for it to be a scratch in Meow's opinion.
+1 on Struck-Through Foreign Object. That's a nice photo (5). I can see the linear lines, the sort noticeable in wood grain effect coins. It has no raised metal at the edge of indent. Nice find.
It looks like the object is raised in all photos. If that is true then it's a strike through, possibly a thread. Nice find.
@MeowtheKitty If it were raised, then it would not be a strikethrough unless it was retained. The anomaly (in the last photo) appears to be recessed to me and similar to my Kennedy, below. Chris
2D pictures can trick the mind when trying to figure out raised vs indented. We use shadows for clues but if we don't know from what direction the light is coming from then the mind can get confused. An arrow from the direction of the light to the subject would really help. BTW you have winner, winner chicken dinner! Nice catch.
Thanks all! Meow was not sure about this one, so had to ask. The Cat hoard if full as it is. No room for PMD coins to be kept.
