After more than 3 months of coin draught, here is an ex. Bing Crosby  beauty I just picked up at auction from our dear friend and famous golden age singer @Bing

I wasn't going to buy anything until around March, but sometimes you just see something you've got to have. :wideyed:

    Ex: Bing

The Apollo portrait on this tiny Greek beauty is superb, and the crazy drunk goat head on the reverse really caught my eyes. I love the style in which that goat was rendered. I also have a soft side for tiny coins, with around 30 coins in my collection being 10mm or under. And being able to say I have an Ex. Bing coin was also a huge plus, given the respect and admiration I have for Bing as a member of this forum. How could I pass such a desperately pretty little coin from such a great collector?

Feel free to post any coins you deem relevant.

Spuds MacKenzie is a total amateur compared to my drunk goat. For those of you who don't get the reference, Google "1980's Bud Light beer dog".

I agree, JW certainly is an upstanding pillar of our ancients community :) (and I'm not saying that because I just won two coins from his auction :D ). Hard to believe I've know him and several others here for almost a decade now, from the CCF days

Aw gee guys. You're making me blush

I've learned a few things from this first auction, and will hopefully correct some things for any subsequent auctions. For one thing, my organization skills have been put to the test. I've not had to do this kind of work since I left the army nearly 20 years ago.

Here's one I got for one of my grandsons for Christmas. I was getting my grandkids animal coins, and he picked a goat as his preference. He didn't get one goat but two with this biga of goats on the reverse.

I rejoice to read you again Sallent. Actually, I was missing your posts and comments sometime ago. Well I searched in my old folders and found this. The coin is a little bit worn or it needs better pictures, but the outcome seems great. The reverse shows an extinct species of goats that grew somewhere in Arabia (possibly Jordan) .
It was called a Jerboah. It's heading left here. The obverse hints that the coin dates back to the early Umayyad reign in the late seventh century AD. I might try to find the coin in my old boxes and take better photos or scans, if necessary. Here it is. SmallO 001.jpg Small R 001.jpg

When I think of goats, I have trouble deciding whether I prefer them active (Thessalonika AE20)

    or passive (Philip V AE20).
