1953 D Is this DDR

    Where do you see the doubling? Maybe just the picture, but I can't see it.

    Top of the T in Cent and the letters look thicker in Pluribus Unum

    Hate to sound stupid but do the notches have anything to do with the doubled die thought I read something about that somewhere

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no! It is possible to find notches on machine doubling, but if it appears to be "flat and shelf-like" it isn't true doubling.

    The notch you see in the T is caused by a hit, not doubling. See how the top is short. Can't happen during hub doubling. I would recommend going back to Wexler and do some more studying in how does are made. The more you learn, the easier it will be to see what is real and what is worthless doubling of damage.
