I have added a couple of rifles of late anything with wood on it a Venezuelan FN 49 hardly used/fired and a Enfield 303 Irish Contract only test fired still cosmoline in the barrel. Then like some others I like to build model planes and ships. The cabinet was my first cabinet I ever built about 10years ago.I am now working on what I want to do when I retire in 8years wood work this is a Garrett Hack design huntboard I am about 75% done woods are Sapele,Cherry,Birch,Maple and W.Cedar floor inside. The finished picture is his G.H. I altered some parts of the design process but have stayed pretty true I have learned alot on mortise/tenons.
That started in 1987 with the models still have most of those but the ones I did as a boy back in the 60/70's are all gone.I can look at the older builds and see my progression to now.I build for me and eye appeal seeing that most people will not be able to tell one variant from another in a series. Here is my gun cabinet and I really need to build another I have shown this before just a couple different rifles in there 3rd from the bottom EnField silver test fire tag on the trigger guard. The 3rd from the top is a never fired 7mm FN Mauser Venezuelan carbine 1930's?I emailed FN with the info but never received a response back
Excellent collection of military rifles. If you haven't heard of the youtube channel C&Rsenal, you should check it out. Very good. A lot of my friends do the military gun thing. I am foremost a hunter and lean towards modern guns for hunting. I especially like handgun hunting. Open sighted handguns, not the scoped variety. I did post one of my military guns earlier in the thread. It recently went away to a collector in KS. It should have some pictures of it in 2 future books on Martini Henrys. Here is a JP Sauer 16ga stock I refinished. I had all sorts of bad dings in it, including 2 bolt marks that showed the threads from the bolts. Wish I had more pics of it. Especially some before pics.
I would say about 250-300 built there is two more small boxes of 1/72 single engine which hold about 80 planes.

I have one handgun a SF1911 in WWII configuration. The very first handgun I shot was a Dirty Harry 44 mag with with a laser I think(long ago) aimed it at a Like size Moose target 75yds and missed!!One shot is all it took told the ole man keep that SOb felt like I was about to lose an arm/wrist he just chuckled.I was probably in my 30's at the time.
Ha! not the handgun to start out on. I have a .475 Linebaugh that I decided to take to Africa one time and worked up full power loads for it. My mistake was trying to test all the loads in one day. Sixty rounds later my wrist and base of my thumb were beat. I ended up taking my Colt Anaconda in 45 Colt. Managed to take the #7 Red Hartebeest. Most of the time I use one of my 1911's for most of my hunting.
I'm late to this party, but since I can't afford the coin hobby (but still fascinated with it), my other interest is in fossils. Nothing spectacular in my little bunch, but I like how they look on my table. For reference, the clam is about the size of a clenched fist.
I thought I update the Huntboard kinda pumped how it's coming along. The top is Sapele as all the main wood of the sides and frame but is Ribbon Sapele and trust me boys my new computer station will be that for the top and Meranti for the boxes/frame underneath with Maple fronts. This other computer station I built for my son as Christmas gift some years back breaks down into 3X pieces I think 6 screws. The only screws as of now is in the hinges themselves and zero nails. The front is just held together mortise/tenon see were I still have pins to lock her down after I straighten the door on the right got to move bottom hinge forward 1/32" maybe? My son computer station Oak.He's USAF 35FW Misawa Japan crewchief F-16's
@jamesicus that is an awesome hobby, strangely my brother and I just picked up a very ornate flintlock from the 18th century. (he likes history and firearms) I have never looked at so many pictures of guns in my life trying to figure out what it is!
Wow those woods are beautiful. Someday when I find more time a want to start carving cat heads in exotic woods.
