image.jpeg image.jpeg Let me tell ya as much as I try to educate myself I look at examples that the reputable site show with the error definition and the ones I find seem to be similar but as of this moment I haven't been correct once with my judgement of the error coin in question. So asking those who know more then I do makes sense. So thank you all I appreciate your feedback.I remember reading something about pennies that were missing the copper layer in lamination I might be rembering wrong but basically it stated that the coin would not be spotted with missing layer it would be a 1/2 or 3/4 or x/x when I found this one I put it aside I'm not sure if even possible on quarters to have similar type of error or if I even have my facts correct.
    So here we go,

Your coin may of had some coating on it, like glue, paint, tape or similar substance which protected it from abrasion of normal wear. but it has recently been cleaned off. I don't think it is any kind of error from the mint.

Whatever occurred did not happen during the minting process. It is just some kind of Environmental Damage. Some Chemical or element that affected the Clad Layer.

    Not a mint error.

If you're into books as opposed to online reading, Alan Herbert's book on errors is an excellent source.
