Hello, I would like to swap coins by mail. Using internet platform we all know for swapping coins I swapped few times, but that source is not exhausted. Any ideas how to swap coins by mail? I am located in Germany, so this should not be a problem, but I am lacking websites where I can get in touch with other collectors. Basically, I have tons of coins I would like to swap, but it is hard to find somebody with the same goal. Thanks.
That is the one I mentioned as "we all know that one" since I though mentioning other sites like this was forbidden. As said, I made swaps, but that source is exhausted for me now. Any other similar platforms?
Should’ve just said numista instead of being cryptic you should tell everyone what you have and what you want.
To find out I did a quick Google search for "swap coins with other collectors" and "trade coins with other collectors". Result, there's not much out there. There's a few individuals who pop up, some even in Europe, but other than Numista there are no other specific sites that I saw set up for swapping or trading. You could place individual ads here on CT in the Trades section - https://www.cointalk.com/forums/trades/ - but that's not what you're looking for as I understand it. But who knows, it may work to a limited degree.
@blackarrow - Have you given Euroswapper a try? I don't swap myself, but depending on what coins you are interested in, that may be something. Another option could be a swapping forum such as this one at muenzen.net - that site, by the way, is operated by a German dealer. They do have a policy of not using the site to promote competitors, but that does not actually apply to swapping. Tschüs, Christian
What about your warning at the top of the Trade page saying "You're a damn fool" if you buy or trade anything on the CT forum?
I have not personally used it, but I've traded with others who have given me generally positive feedback, enough for me to feel comfortable recommending it. But just like eBay, you should be cautious and judicious in who you choose to trade with.
What about it ? The warning is quite valid, and it spells out why. Given what I explain in that warning - Would you disagree with the "damn fool" part ? Ya see, you're assuming that by saying what I did that I am recommending he trade here. But I am not, I am merely pointing out that it is an option open to him. And the warning that I posted here, well that should be posted at any and all trading sites. Why ? For the very same reasons that I listed. By it's very nature trading coins is conducted with people you do not know, people you have no reason to trust whatsoever. And every single time you undertake a trade deal, if you do not know the person you are trading with, you are setting yourself up for a significant risk. It is up to you to accept that risk or not. I realize you are fairly new here and don't really know me. But those that do know me could tell you that I have posted many, many times that one should only, stress only, buy coins from people they know and trust. Whether that be individuals or dealers, if you do not know and trust them then you should not buy coins from them - period.
I understand. Yes, I was questioning the contradiction of suggesting an option that you warn people not to do. But now that you explained that you weren't actually suggesting it but just pointing out an option open to someone asking for options, I understand.
