Which one do you find most perfect? (don't make a judgement based on the color of the photos)

Which solidus of Justinian do you consider to be most attractive?:

I have seen numerous solidus of Justinian, and I am somehow either convinced or deluded that I have the most perfect solidus of Justinian. Or at least in top 2.

I have checked the acsearch and those coins were the most attractive I could find.

I am inhabil, so I will not vote.

Assuming these are genuine, I like 2 and 4.

"Most attractive" is very subjective. Best shape would be 2 by a small margin over 5&6 which appear to have a little waviness in the flans and 4 for having a weak CONOB

That's a tough question. What is "perfect" in an ancient coin? Technical perfection? None of them are and it's hard to imagine any ancient coin being deemed perfect. Are you really asking for our opinion about the most appealing of the group? That's may be a different thing.

I don't know how picky the Byzantine catalogs are in terms of variations and numbers, but isn't coin #2 different variety than the others, albeit a minor thing (no cross on top of the globe)? Its technical grade seems higher than the others, although I'm not sure if my overall favorite is 2, 5, or 6. All six are very examples of Byzantine solidi.

A brief cruise through ACsearch turned up a couple more contenders.

All of the solidi in this thread have a less cartoonish and crude look that the majority of these I saw during a quick browse of ACsearch. I'd take any of them if someone is giving out early Saturnalia presents :D.

Its hard to leave color out of the decision, I chose the one I would want in my collection. #5 I liked its character.

Nr 2. The winner. Of course.

No, just kidding. Nr 1 is mine. I have shown it before, and I also made a seperate foto.

Did you notice that all of TIF's added coins and #2 are significantly different from your other five in a way other than the missing cross? Is this a mint difference or early/late? I prefer #2 as second choice and the last two of TIF's as tops.

    Who wants to explain 'indiction'?
