Let's try something new... GTCG - guess the crossover grades Both coins are PCGS certified and were submitted to NGC for crossover. I also submitted a third coin, but that was only for fun and I don't have any good pictures. #1 1831 Bust half dollar - old PCGS slab, green label, XF45 #2 1934 Peace - old PCGS slab, blue label, MS64 I'd like to mention that the "scratch" on Liberty's face is on the holder, not on the coin. Please try to guess the new crossover grades and/or vote in the poll. Have fun!
I think the Bust crosses at AU53. I dont think the Peace $ will. The toning and strike is nice but it seems to me, from my experience, NGC can be a bit tougher on Peace dollars.
I'm at AU-53 on the Bust Half and as much as I love that Peace Dollar I'm thinking it's a MS-64. Would be nice to see it as a 65 though.
I am at a 53 on the Bust. If the Peace is as brilliant as the photos I would probably guess The 64 gets a star. That's a Perty coin.
@micbraun , I like both of those coins. Great eye appeal. I haven't seen a lot of beautifully toned Peace Dollars, but I certainly like yours. I hope you get a star on the Peace Dollar!
No, that was the joke response. I think they would cross at the same grade. Possible upgrade for the Peace Dollar, as it is such a pretty coin. I see the Peace Dollar as a star coin for extreme eye appeal.
Thanks. In another thread someone quoted David Hall saying any Peace dollar with rainbow toning is AT. We’ll soon see what NGC thinks...
I do not agree with David Hall—he made plenty of mistakes as a numismatist. There are plenty of NT/MA Peace Dollars—not as many as Morgans, due to different storage modes, but still plenty.
