Jefferson Nickel that looks like it's melting...what up with this?

    I bought a box of nickels to go through and I found this one that was kind of interesting. I am hoping that some of you can explain my and how it happened. The interesting things is that the problem was on both sides of the coin. I was wondering if it was some type of grease damage?

    So, you gave us "8 pieces of the puzzle". How about giving us photos of the entire puzzle? I have my suspicions, but can't be sure without seeing the whole coin.

    Same here. When I first started here it was pretty much mandatory to post full size photos, To me it is just lazy to not show the whole coin. Like we should have to guess or something.

    Some parts of the rim are nicely struck still.

    yeah, let's see the WHOLE COIN.
    it's like taking pics of a car and never show the entire car. Here's the wheel, bumper, headlight, steering wheel, etc. Ppl like to see the entire thing too.
