Does anyone know why the u.s. mint stopped using the cellos in 2007 for uncirculated mint sets?

Probably a tactic to raise prices.

If you ran a business and the packaging cost you $.10 and you sold the item for $5.00, would you not change the packaging that now cost you a quarter but you can sell the item for $6.00?

    It's all about money.

Streamlining... They can get all the set coins in one handy package now instead of multiples as previously done. Plus, all of the info about the coins is on the packaging itself and not separate individual cards.

It's also supposed to be kinder to the coins, especially the satin finish ones that didn't last long.
