Not really. As far as I can see all pictures are copied from ACsearch.info and therefore show coins offered in dozens of auctions over two decades.

They do not all show gold coins, either. The portrait of Pupienus for example is from a silver Denarius and that of Balbinus from an Antoninianus. Their pictures were artificially re-colored in a golden tone to fool the buyer.
Balbinus did not issue gold Binios (that´s what a golden radiate would be), and I have not seen a published photo of a genuine Aureus of Pupienus yet.
Same goes for Gordian I and II: There is only one gold coin of Gordian I in existence and this is not it, while there are no genuine gold coins of Gordian II known at all. Both pictures therefore show Denarii and are re-colored.
Aemilianus is an Ant, too. He did not issue radiate gold coins and the makers of the poster were too lazy to look for a picture of an Aureus of his outside of ACsearch. This is only from a first glance so I bet there are other "fakes" there, too :)

Actually, Calico lists 3 different aurei types for Gordian I, while a barbarous style type for Gordian II:happy: Likely all are "million euro coins."

    I agree with that sentiment.

That is interesting! I thought about getting Calico as I would love to collect Aurei but as I have to restrict myself to Sestertii (the next best thing :) ) I opted for Banti instead.

Which types for Gordian I does he list and where are they supposed to be? Calico is known for listing types that should or could exist and sometimes to create illustrations for them via photoshop. According to Sear, the Aureus illustrated in BMCRE (formerly Ponton d ´Amecourt collection, Romae Aeternae Reverse) still is the one and only genuine specimen.

Is there a picture of the barbarous Gordian II?

    Hi Julius:
Yes, there are photos of all the types, including the Gordian II type. The 2 volume set is quite nice, avaliable from CNG. I only have 11 aurei:( but if I had the the means of a guy like Bezos, I would gobble up every MS aureus that came to auction, plus 10 of thousands of other gold issues from 12 th century to 1918, in MS quality. The Gordian I comes in three different reverses...
    (a) Gordianus holding branch/ scepter
    (b) Providentia holding wand/ cornucopiae
    (c) Roma seated/ Victory/ Scepter
    Gordianus II
    (a) Woman standing left/ holding military ensign DIVUS PATER TRAJANVUS

    John

PS: They really went up in price since 2003 (Books)
    Coins went up even more!
