What does the Federal Reserve offer or do in regards to damaged coins? I have asked a number of people including some coin professionals and many people are of the opinion that you can swap them for equal value. Some say the Federal Reserve will only pay scrap value. And a friend of my wife who actually works at the Federal Reserve says the FR will not take them at all. I’ve looked on their website and could neither find an answer nor a way to contact them to ask. Does anybody know?
take them to a bank and swap them. I've done it with coins and paper money. I think the Federal Reserve does paper currency swaps and the US Mint does coins swaps, but by the bulk. https://www.usmint.gov/news/consumer-alerts/mutilated-coin-program https://bep.gov/services/currencyredemption.html
