If you ever come across other examples that are more domed you may want to look into the process of "dapping" or "sinking", which is more commonly called "doming". People will take pennies (or nickels, dimes, quarters, etc) and dome them such as to make jewelry (or just the novelty of it) all the time. But that one looks like a commercial dryer damage where it gets past the lint trap and stuck between the two drums.
