Tokens I know there is another thread about Tokens but It was a very old thread. I don't know how the Mods feel about resurrecting old threads. I recently purchased a Token, RAM DARBAR Weight : 12.47 gm. Diameter : 29 mm It has not yet been delivered but I can't help but wonder IF this may be a modern replica rather than a genuine Token. Also I cannot make out what the date is supposed to be. I purchased this more as a curiosity. The story of these tokens is a fascinating one.
I agree with that, I have two of this type of tokens. One is an early Cast bronze that looks like yours. the other is a more modern one that I think is a replica but made of silver... http://www.anythinganywhere.com/commerce/exo/india-ramtan.htm
Interesting. I know little about these, I do know that those that say East India Company, like mine, are fantasy temple tokens - tourist trinkets.
I am not sure of that. I do think the discoloration comes from being poorly stored with other coins. I note the crescent shape on the reverse, it reminds me of silver coins that acquire toning in a bag type storage atmosphere.
