I just bought my first microscope and have been having a blast with it. I will next buy another eyepiece and a camera attachment, but for now, it is really cool to be able to scope coins thru something more than a loupe. I have already found a 1944 D/D rpm #002 / FS-503-21.1 in one of the bags I bought from Budgood. More on the budgood bags later, but WOW, great bags for sure !!! Can you, or have you, take pictures with it? I have seena picture taken by simply putting the camera lens against teh eye pice on a similar microscope. It worked fairly well.
Nice Jack, Now you'll spend even MORE time looking at coins. That's a big ole clembo guarantee there.
Very cool, don't have to strain your eyes as much anymore looking through a loupe, lol. Very cool man. :thumb: Congrats! :thumb: Phoenix
Ok, the pic thru eyepiece is not working that good by hand. I am sure I can make something at work to adapt it, but they sell a cam unit specifically for this, so I will just buy it. This pic was taken by hand, with macro on, thru the lens, as you can see, light is an issue, but the RPM is quite evident. I had it set aside to check with my 20X B&L later, than the mailman showed up with the scope, so right on...here it is. My 1st Rpm pull from the Budgood hoard.
Jack... Nice toy! I have been using scopes for years..not for coins, but for work. At one time I was interested in electron microscopy and almost signed up for classes on that very subject. What I really enjoy looking at is damaged tissue from the body..once it is stained, it takes on a very unique property and has an identity all it's own.... Looking at coins should prove very worth while for you as I see it has already made a difference for you. Keep posting some of those pics of what you find.. Regards, RickieB
That is not too bad. When you are taking picture like that, you are more interested in the details then the color. The details are there. As for the color, you might try playing with the white balance and/or the lighting setting.
Very nice. Not a bad price. I've been thinking about getting one because the loupe is starting to hurt my eyes. I'll keep my eyes own for one.
There was some kind of toy advertised around Christmas for a decent price. It allowed you to move the instrument over any object and project it onto a computer screen at about 300X. Sure wish I could find one now and it wasn't that expesive.
I would really like to have something like that. If you figure out where and what it is, please let me know. I have sorted through a lot of silver coins and have a roll of 1916 dimes that are very worn. I "believe" they are without mint marks, but a REALLY close look would be great.
Hi Arizona Jack, I checked the auction and cannot quite figure out which model your new toy is. Would you please tell me which model you bought? Thanks, jeankay
