Yet no one with legal standing has become the plaintiff in a case against him. Until someone does, and wins, the issue can be argued to death, but nothing will change. I think your constant coming on here to knock the side you are not on is not too bright, as all your reasonings still don't do diddly about DC minting his coins/tokens without the word copy on them. But keep it up, it is totally amusing to see you rail against people very ineffectually.
Based on your own words, the term hater, fits you as well. It's best not to call anyone a hater. It's used by someone that can't express their thoughts without being insulting. In todays times, the term is an insult.
I am not sure where this thread can go from here, besides resorting to the same name calling, last word statements and a completely two sided conversation. One always trying to Hate on the other side. This is Why @C-B-D started the thread he did, it was appreciated. Because it started showcasing the Art Work that Dan is capable of. It has made more than public, the die characteristics and ability to identify his work. It was hinted on in the posts today, and stated as Dan's work is no different than the Chinese/ or knock off that is meant to deceive. Please prove why you feel this is relevant to a case. Show us why his coins should need a copy stamp. Not because of how you interpret how the "hobby act" as it is written. Show us why his coins are deceiving, are they because those that are uneducated in the hobby might buy the coin "because" they didn't do enough research on the subject? Is there some excuse that because it looks like a half cent but really isn't good enough? IMO it is the buyers responsibility to know what he or she is buying. In todays age with the ability to research a known date and denomination, really an exception for playing the ignorance card? How far does the government have to go before placing the blame on the buyer? If anyone else has the "Huevos" to make a token or medal/ piece of art that can be identified, more power to them. Every one of Dan's O/S can be identified by die marriage, those stats and markers are usually given once production stops on every piece. It gets ridiculous to here all these claims in defamation towards the Man trying to make a buck. So what, he found a niche that can't be governed, should that be enough to add such controversy to his name? I think Hate'n has come lately because each side can't find a common ground between them. It gets difficult to speak our minds when we sit on different sides. Yet, it would be more beneficial if maybe we broke down the conversation. We just might find a resolution, because a court case isn't going to end this debate. This surely is ONLY a subject of Public Opinion. Because those that are able to identify his pieces the supposed experts ones that watch his coins are being looked down upon. The more publicity and photos get the more his O/S are worth. How about lets keep our continual education on the characteristics of his pieces and use that to document his Fantasy pieces. Really they are just that a "Fantasy". Credit is rarely due but I believe @dcarr should at least deserve some respect from the other side. Just Sayin.
Because it's impossible to come to common ground when no matter what actually happens one side just keeps saying that they want it to be different. The ANA literally dismissed a complaint against him that was filed by Roger B for the exact things the unreasonable side keeps going on and on and on about. Does anyone honestly believe that one of these self righteous I have to save the hobby from him types hasn't reached out to prosecutors before trying to get a case brought? No matter what happens though there's just too many that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express or watched Law & Order so they know better no matter what. The scary part is that some people legitimately argue that a court has to find it legal before it can be. While Chairman Mao and the like would certainly be pleased with that argument, that isn't how things work in this country. But ultimately that is the problem anyway, some have decided that it should be illegal and work backwards to justify it or try and dismiss the evidence that the authorities who actually matter have taken a look at the issue and come to different conclusions than they did.
Ah, more projection. Let's play a new game. Whoever spots the most logical fallacies and/or misrepresentations in this text wins.
Fair point, well, at least until we think about how many significantly greater issues the government is well aware of yet does nothing about. When looked at in this context the stated is an exceedingly weak argument. You do realize that even in cases where it is “dates/mintmarks that never existed” he’s still exactly COPYING literally everything else and even then only ever-so-slightly changes the addressed, right? Sorry, but the designs absolutely existed and have undeniably been copied. Also, do notice whenever some cheesy misdated Asian copy is posted no one rushes to call it “art”, a “fantasy” piece, or emotionally defend it and is just more evidence of the double standard so many here embrace.
Good point. Maybe it's about intentionality or something. If something is intended to defraud its bad, if it's not intended to defraud it's ok? 1st vs 2nd degree murder
At least the Chinese have the defense that U.S. laws don't apply to them. That includes the HPA and counterfeiting statutes. Since the U.S. hasn't throw them in prison, according to the forum experts, that must make it okay right?
Ooh, ooh, ooh.... we can send in the “army men” to “blow up” all their “counterfeiting equipment, buildings, etc”! Yay! That’s the ticket! Okay, okay.... just in case you don’t remember, I’d better add a little context here to avoid looking like a complete idiot. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/co...organs-on-ebay-seriously.205040/#post-1424559 Oh, the good old days... if only that kid had stopped whining long enough to devise a way to bottle the entertainment value he offered freely...
Entertainment value aside, the Chinese are getting better at counterfeiting and many collectors whom I assume do not belong to any coin chat site like this one are without a clue apparently. See the attached and check out the ebay auction... just another one in a string of many.... So all you armchair lawyers keep attacking the problem, DC overstrikes, and stick your heads in the sand when it comes to the clear and present threat to our hobby.... https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=340043
Yes indeed. The cert on the Chinese slab is a legitimate number in the PCGS data base but yields no image. They are devious.
They've been around for years. They never get it all right and it's that generation of holder they attack the most as it's the easiest one to replicate
