I have a dropper bottle of unscented lamp oil sitting around for doing photos. It turns out it softens label goo so that it's easily wiped off. Works better than rubbing alcohol (which works well to clean the haze off the interior of your windshield, by the way). Just put a drop on the residue and let it soak for a few seconds. This is also the way to get labels off of NGC hologram holders safely. The oil will soak through the label unless it's plastic. If it's a glossy label, scuff it up first.
Toothpaste works very nicely - and will remove scratches too. Toothpaste is a good polish to use on anything that might be sensitive to chemicals and works especially well on plastic.
Alcohol will do the trick.......just don't use anything 'drinkable'........that would be a travesty........
Thanks for the tip Randy!!!! This is working great on some of my scratched up PCGS stuff!! I got a 1935 P quarter in ms65 that was a beater last week (the slab anyway). Well below bid because it was scratched up so bad. Now its brand new again!
I know, right?? It’s like the stuff was made for slab renewal. Glad it worked out for you. Keep the stuff away from the TPG holograms though. It sure does take them off too.
