I have some of these that arrived in sealed plastic labeled R C M, and were attached together in a seamed lined arrangement. So I was surprised to see that they had several chips and scratches. They are at a glance very good and thought they were B U, but could they be resealed in mint packaging? Could they be die clashed? The markings are not uniform as to location on the coins and are on both sides. The reeds show no damage that I can detect. Could it be debris floating around the dies or a lamination defect? I don't really want to unseal them to photograph them, especially if someone knows about them already. Please share your knowledge if you can. Thanks.
@myownprivy knows about the RCM stuff Pictures would help immensely too. More info like where you bought them from, online links, etc etc etc Don't be afraid to inundate us with detailed information.
I'll try and get a good pix thru the plastic, but don't know as I've never tried it. Came from the Gold Money vault in Toronto, a group I don't recommend. My original holding was w/ BitGold, but after they merged w/ James Turk they don't seem reliable.
I have seen damage like you describe on Canadian proof sets, and since the packaging is similar, it wouldn't surprise me if this could happen to RCM gold bullion. Let's see pictures.
I believe what you're talking about is the plastic being pressed down onto the coin, and getting some of the (curved) rim of the coin impressed onto the plastic. Other than that, I don't see anything else; there are die polish lines in the fields, which has been seen before, and is not an error or damage. Hope this helps, and let me know if I'm addressing the wrong thing(s)
Yeah, sorry, It's hard to get a clean pix thru the plastic. That are several small chips scattered over both sides of the coins, Some are indented and other are small piles or rises on the surface. Also there are some scratches mostly circular that also go into the coin and others that seem to be pushing out from underneath. Don't want to unseal the coins, but may have to in order to get shots that show all this.
I'll say this, based on what I have learned about Goldmoney and their business practices, it doesn't surprise me one bit that when they provide you with physical gold they would send you subpar bullion. However, in the end, selling it to a coin shop will get you the same premium as if it were perfect. Reselling to others on ebay, however, may get you a little less than you could have otherwise. I'd be upset, but I wouldn't stress too much. Are all of the coins like this, or just that one?
If these reviews are of the same Goldmoney in toronto, it seems they have dropped in their ability to deliver. I forsee out of business signs soon and/or lawsuits galore. https://www.bbb.org/ca/on/toronto/p...dealers/goldmoney-inc-0107-1331844/complaints or https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/goldmoney.com https://www.weusecoins.com/bitgold/
I've had money struck on their prepaid Mastercard for about 4 months now. With no warning they froze all accounts in the U.S.A. and I call and/or write weekly to hear the same old refrain,"we'll get right on it and you should have your money back w/in a couple days. That's when I call. Never get anything but an automated response to my emails, promising to get back to me by the next day. I'm not holding my breath, and having a hard time holding my temper. Probability should sue before they just disappear.
me thinks their BitGold valuation deflation bankrupted them .... they're just trying to build cash by shady methods to "cash out" until the gov't/courts steps in. But just an opinion ... i've done no business with them but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express a few decades ago.
