See the difference in the quality of the 2? How the first one is just a cheap imitation of a real coin and the second is not trying to look like legal tender?
I have seen these tokens at my local coin shop.. here is one of them https://www.brigandicoin.com/collec...61-bn-brown-f-207-412-a-the-flag-of-our-union
Paddy I am in no way an expert on tokens much less civil war tokens, but yes when you think about it for about 1 second after looking at the thing it does not make sense that it could possibly be genuine.
Its real. heres a something i found on the net.......http://www.icollector.com/1863-CIVIL-WAR-TOKEN-NOT-1-CENT_i31288033
It is a modern replica. It's too perfect as in computer aided. The one you linked here is real. These tokens were modeled by artist, by hand, the same as circulating coins of the same period. They aren't perfect and have an artist touch which the coin in the original post does not have.
I think it may be fake the more i look at it. I cant find this variety anywhere on the net. And its weight is 4.1 grams, it seems too heavy. I think this is the first fake coin i ever bought. At least i found a site that gives a list of all the 1863 and 1864 war tokens ever made. https://www.pcgs.com/pop/detail/civil-war-tokens-1863-1864/6274
