So I recently bought a box of pennies and found around 20 wheat pennies for my collection, but as I always do I set aside all my key date coins for further examination later, the whole process takes around a week or two depending on my work. Anyway I was just taking a closer look at all my 1982 D's and I found one that stood out from the rest.... the 2 looks like I might have a possible, the whole date is smaller than normal and to mint mark looks different aswell, I'm uploading 2 pictures. One of a large date and one of the small date in question... I'm not an expert but I have a loop and it looks like I may have one... Would love some help. First pic is the coin in question, the second is a large date to compare. If you need more pictures just ask. My camera is terrible but I will try my best.
Wounded like my eagles baby, watching a youtube video on it right now so I can get a 12 year olds opinion on weather I have it or not. Trying to gather as much info as possible. Ha.
Learn how to identify them (I'm sure you've seen the postings). Find yourself a Small Date of any mint and use it for comparison against a Large Date. You'll be an expert in no time and won't have to watch a 12 yr old's YouTube video which is probably wrong anyways.
Copper is pretty much useless to hoard in my opinion, I hoard Susan b Anthonys because they can go for twice face value but thats about it.
I think the reason he hoards them is. If we have another civil war cooper is going to be worth more than gold.
When you are allowed to sell copper for melt, and receive 25% of the grade A price for alloyed copper, copper has to be $6 a pound to break even. The highest it has ever been is a little over $4 a pound and currently it is $2.80. As for the small date, this photo is your friend:
If you have the 2 on the left, it's a large date. If you have the 2 on the right It's a small date. Can't be anything else
