Greetings everyone. I've recently found myself becoming interested in finding die cracks and their progression into die failure.

Needless to say it has so far been a fruitless search to catalog the progression.

Die cracks themselves are plentiful as well as their progression into larger more apparent ones. However rare minor failures can still be found but none in relation to earlier stages.

As far as a complete or catastrophic die failure I have only ever seen one example.

Does anyone in the community have a similar interest and has examples that they would be willing to share here? Or perhap even possibly point me in a direction where I may find such documented instances?

As far as die crack progressions are concerned, your best opportunity to find any would come from searching original Mint bags with 1,000-5,000 coins per bag. However, I must stress that there is no guarantee that you will find anything.

Yes I have had the unfortunate experience of sorting through two separate 5000 count bags.

They do command a premium. With little to no justification contained within for the price.

There are many sites that are dedicated to the study of coins.
This one stands out from the rest for me anyways.

Check out the links highlighted in red under the photos. The coin might also have a different attribution in an earlier/later die state.
