Hey y'all, so I came along what appears to be a miscut (correct me if I'm wrong) series 1996 100 dollar bill. First time I saw this in my life, in person. Is it worth anything? Is it collectible?

Please take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think. Thank you for your time!

To be considered an error, a portion of an adjoining note must be visible. Yours is just poorly centered.

Thanks for your reply. I saw some on eBay in seemingly the same condition go for around 150, is mine not worth anything then?

Yeah, that's ebay for ya'. Sellers list all kinds of stuff, whether they sell or not is a different story. One thing for certain is it's worth face value, maybe a few bucks more if you get a person who don't know any better. :D It looks better than the one in the link that's for sure. Better luck next time! ;)

I recently found this super low short run star. It has one of the smallest margins I've ever found on a note but it still wouldn't be considered an error. Unfortunately, poorly centered notes, of which mine represents an extreme example, are not typically seen as desirable by collectors.

Your $100 note would be more desirable if it had perfectly-centered margins. However, the situation changes when part of the design is missing due to misprinting or alignment issues, as well as when a portion of another note can be seen (which SteveInTampa mentions). At that point, the note is considered to be an actual error and is often worth more than face value.

If you look close, you’ll see the top of the adjoining note in the lower margin of this note.
