I do believe that is the effect the person behind the post wishes to convey. Do not also become in involved in doing so or they have been successful and you will feel sad. Thanks Jim
Welcome to the neighborhood, Katie! FYI It is possible to find silver coins in circulation from time to time. So, I thought you might like to know which ones to look for: >Nickel, 1942-1945, .05626 oz., 35% silver >Dime, through 1964, .07234 oz., 90% silver >Quarter, through 1964, .18084 oz., 90% silver >Half Dollar, through 1964, .36169 oz., 90% silver >Half Dollar, 1965-1970, .1479 oz., 40% silver NOTE: I won't go into silver dollars because it gets a little complicated for Morgan, Peace and Eisenhower dollars. Chris
Thank you all, and sorry! I did not know/intend to go against forum rules, and I apologize if I offended anyone. My profile pic was me when I posed for a picture at a school photo-shoot, nothing wrong with me, I was clothed. Avatar changed to my favorite character from my favorite movie
During World War II we needed the nickel to kill the Nazis. Nickels were always 75% copper and 25% nickel and 5 grams. But from 1943-1945 (and some 1942's) the composition was changed to 56% copper 35% silver and 9% manganese. There is almost the same amount of pure silver in a war nickel (a little less) than a regular silver dime.
I was going to mention the silver content years as well. It’s always fun to find silver in circulation. Welcome to collecting. It sounds like it’s something that interests you. Have fun and keep what appeals to you.
