Hello I have 4 1982 pennies and two of the are small lettering and don’t have D and weighed at 2.5 and I have two that are large lettering and one weighed at 2.5 and the other at 3.1. Any one have advised for me
Welcome! You have 2 small date zinc 1 large date zinc and 1 large date copper all Philadelphia mint. (in that order) The one you really want is a 1982 with a D that weighs over 3g.
Okay so here is an interesting situation. This looks like PMD all the way. But I cut this out of an SMS OGP and then when I looked at the rim it has the 3 chunks taken out and a little fold of metal on the field. So while PMD it happened from the time of strike to the time of packaging. Unless it was somehow viced in the package but then where did the metal go? Shot of the reverse opposite of the marks show 2 thin lines on the rim.
@robec here is an oldie but goodie. The image says pending, grade is SMS65RB. This was my first slabbed toner.
I go to a gold/silver shop that also buys coins. They don't always check the coins if they are busy. I stop 2 or 3 times a week.
I'll have to look back in my folders and see when I took the photo. At the time it belonged to a member of the PCGS CU boards, Las Vegas Teddy. He was/is in love with anything SMS.
