My latest addition, and to commemorate Black History month, is the new Canadian Dix-Ten Dollar note. Viloa Desmond, a famous human rights activist adorns Canada’s first vertically oriented Banknote. The polymer note is stunning, and also has tactile features for sight impaired users. I’m including a US $1 as a size reference.
Today's new pickup is a bit different, once of very few instances of shipwreck currency... this is both a 1000 Lira note and a US $1 Silver Certificate from the wreck of the Andrea Dorea. I collect coins from shipwrecks - have the El Cazador, the Consolacion, the Hollandia, the Sao Jose, the Admiral Gardner, and these two notes. Actually have nice models of El Cazador and Sao Jose along with my coins, cool looking little display. I should also have a piece of coal recovered from the Titanic boiler but alas, that disappeared from my fathers estate so who knows where that went...
Today's new pickup is a 1934 $20 transitional green star note. Not limey, getting to that weird time between colors here...
Wow, President Rutherford B Hayes on the front and a really famous depiction of General Washington crossing the Delaware on the back.
Today's new pickup is one of the later acquisitions for the What's In Your Wallet stash - if you are gonna travel with one, go with one that is well traveled... no sense making a good grade bad, take a note that has hit the mat and gotten back up a few times...
A few posts up someone mentioned El Banco Minero... so I went and got one. This 1914 2 pesos is in pretty rough shape but I only paid $10 for it! It's not ABNC, so although there are gorgeous colors the central vignette is not as high quality as ABNC. Nevertheless, this is a really gorgeous note.
Today's new pickup is this 1931 100 Korun note from Czechoslovakia. This note is extra big in hand, and one of those you wonder which side is the face and isn't... a lot of neat engraving imagery here, naked was apparently a big thing in 1931 Prague...
