I just came across this in new eBay BIN listings:

    Liberty Nickel Collection-Vintage 1938 Whitman Coin Board-25 Coins (171217-180)

It's much like the standard cardboard Whitman albums, but it's a single page designed for display. No plastic, just punched cardboard with paper backing.

    The reverse includes helpful advice:

Suddenly, I'm not so unhappy that the listed board doesn't contain an 1885, 1886, or 1912-S example. It's horrible to think of how many perfectly nice coins were intentionally ruined on the basis of this advice.

(I'm also guessing that Charles Barber was spinning in his grave over the "Morgan Type" dime, quarter, and half-dollar categories...)

Edit: he's also got a Mercury Dime board listed, and that one does NOT include any advice about cleaning coins.

FWIW, I believe that David Lange of NGC wrote a book about the vintage coin boards.

That really is interesting. My how times have changed.

Those dimes must be special while the nickels were not.

I have complete Buffalo Nickels, Mercury Dimes (16D is stored elsewhere, Complete Indian Head Penny (-2) and some others stored in Whitman Folders. Most of them have been in these folders for 70 years. See my post https://www.cointalk.com/posts/3345225/. And the attached photos. I have been cleaning up my accumulation of 70 years and could use some storage advice. IHC Collection.JPG IHC Collection 2.JPG IHC Collection 3.JPG
