Going to a coin show week after next and am sorting through some stuff that I may try to unload. Have a set of proof silver state quarters that consume too much space in my safe. Are these valued like any common silver quarter? Maybe 10X face value considering spot stays about where it is now?
Yep, unless they're 1999, and even those are falling fast. You could get somewhat more for them on eBay, but after fees and shipping and time spent, you're probably better off dumping them at the local show.
I'm always curious because the CPG reports that only a few are known, but there could be others extant. I'm only aware of 12, and I have always wondered if there were more. Chris
Well.... I actually have several sets of silver state proofs. One in the mint issued plastic and two in Dansco’s. I have never been one that looked for errors but I will certainly give them a look.
I sold one that was certified by NGC as PF70UCAM for $1K because it was a Top Pop with no others, and another complete Proof Set in the OGP with the KS FS901 for $750. Chris
I have three sets. Two are here at home. One is in my desk at work. No errors on the two sets I have at home. I’ll check the set at work in the morning.
That's too bad. I'm beginning to believe that there aren't more of them floating around. I've been watching for them for the last 14 years, both certified and raw, and none have ever appeared. Chris
I'm gonna have to shuffle through my Silver State Quarters now after reading this thread. Of course, I've been planning on selling my 1999s (??) after the price spiked .. but I'm a little slow ...
