The 1883 with cents allot of wear. But I have one without cents a gold plated. I really wanted one with cents. He gave it to me for 3$. I had to take it. I probably wouldn't get one with that price anywhere with the wear on it. The wheat was $1.00 CM190202-134910001.jpg CM190202-134925002.jpg CM190202-135122007.jpg CM190202-135147009.jpg CM190202-135052006.jpg CM190202-135043005.jpg He had alot of stuff I'm going back soon. He said he has alot of deals. He has errors and everything.

It's not a lot of money you spent, and if the purchases made you happy, then that's what really matters. However, I would examine anything else closely before you buy.

The 1943 has been dipped and replated. The V nickel is a cull, you could find several of those for the same price elsewhere.

I spent the first thirty years of my life loving coins like that. Yes I believe you did just fine.

Become friends with the proprietor their, Shrews. Smart coin shop owners recognize that young passionate collectors are the future of their business. The more he sees you and gets to know you the more he will be inclined to do all he can to keep your interests on fire.

When I was a teenager I had a small coin store near my house. That shop became my daily hang out. The shop had an old worn half eagle that I oogled over every time I went in the place. The shop keeper offered to let me give him a few dollars or whatever I had each week toward that glimmering gold coin. I took that man my lunch money, cut his grass... Anything I could do to get closer to owning that dream coin. I still remember the day I paid the last few dollars like it was yesterday.... Never would have happened if that shop owner didn’t take a liking to me..... Just last mother’s day I had that half eagle made into a necklace for my mom. She was my biggest supporter as I worked and dreamed of that coin. Seemed a fitting place for that half eagle to end up.

The 1883 With Cents seems to be the toughest of the 2 even though they made 3 times as many. My first 2 coins, the ones that started my collecting, were the 1885 and the 1883 without cents. It took a while to get the with cents version.

Thats a great story. I wish more people would take newbies under their wing like that. When do you hear anything like that now about letting someone earn their way to buying something they want like that? Far and few between!

Nice '43 by the way @Shrews1994! Love me some Lincolns!

Very cool story. I would do something like that now to get something I want. But that's very kind of you to make in a necklace for your mom.

Would be nice if it was really MS and not replated/reprocessed.
