I can't post it due to the page about to rip off the folder but my father found/bought( I have no idea ) an 1872 bank of Augustus one dollar bill in uncirculated condition. This dollar was not issue to anyone and it has no date 18 __ but has 1872 in the folder.
Nice find. Printed and distributed 1946-1949. Doubtful is saw use all those years, but a cool find regardless.
I assume you mean "found in circulation recently", right? I mean, there are people here who were born well before 1935...
back in the 80's i dated a girl who worked as a bank teller in town, i educated her on what to look out for, all these notes came from customers and i got them for face value...
This Star note $20.00 I received in 2015 Here is the thread from back then - https://www.cointalk.com/threads/20-00-b-note-star-note-1969-my-very-first-poll.261515/
Well done! Edit: are you holding those hoping we go back to the gold standard? It would sure be something.
I'll be of no use anyhow, because when I was a little kid back in the 60s, I was far too poor to hang onto a dollar just because it looked old.
Does this count. I found this in the trash around 1958. Thought it was play money, but cool, so I kept it.
Up until this year, all of the currency I have was out of circulation. It was hard to hang on to these as I was just a kid and loved to spend money and that's why you don't see anything above a $5 bill. LOL
You found a Pallisades national in circulation? That's a monster... probably a $200 note. And that Confederate was in the trash for a reason... trash it and spend $20 to get a decent version of the real thing, very affordable note. Life is to short to cavort with terrible condition replicas... like a third-owner blow up doll with too many punctures to count...
