Oh man... I'm sorry. Every photo I saw posted here this week made me more anxious and wishing I had paid for expedited shipping.
No worries Randy. Just means I can drink beer tonight without worrying about them sitting in the truck.
Mine showed up on time, though I had it redirected to UPS because of work (it needed a signature). So I couldn't get there the other day so had to wait a day to pick it up. But since everything was closed I could have gotten it at home, although my front door was frozen shut anyways. ahh .. still got them after a days delay. You'll like them Randy. Even though the same design they're just different. Although you have to wait for the 5 ouncer. That one just blow my mind even though I have other flat 5 ouncers. but check your $5 Gold proof for this blemish ... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/flawed-gold-5-apollo-11.332075/#post-3340896
I just perused that thread. I have inspected and everything I got is flawless. I hate it for that fellow..... Man, I cannot wait to see this in the five ounce ashtray.
I will say this after staring at them for an hour now...... The design is spectacular on the proof Coins. It loses all it’s wow factor on the Uncirculated strikes.
I think the same thing. The Proof gold was $10 more than the uncirc strike? Ugh. Although less uncirc were sold so far .. I wonder if down the road that may raise the secondary market valuation or will it just drop to melt? I'll have to look at the baseball coins to get a clue ...
I been wondering that too...... I consulted my Magic 8-Ball..... It told me... Better not tell me now....
Ive seen these coins online going for 4-500 for the 5oz silver. Is it worth it? apparently 100k were created.
If you're interested, you should just get it right from the U.S. Mint. $225 for 5 oz. proof. But you'll have to wait a bit. https://catalog.usmint.gov/apollo-1...ves#cm_sp=TPR-_-apollo-image-_-012419&start=1
I would bet these were the few that got them before they went on backorder. That’s near twice what the most is selling them for. The sellers you are seeing are capitalizing on the folks that either don’t know you can buy them from the mint. Or just too impatient to wait till May.... No, not worth it.
I think these coins are awesome and I can't think of two more iconic images to have for the front and back design.
I wonder how many 5 oz. pieces were actually available (sold) before Back Order. FS/ER pieces could have fairly low pops. February 25th is cutoff date. Sealed boxes of 5 have sold for $1500+. A friend of mine got a box of 5 that I saw. I told him he might have four of five grade 70 and one grade 69 due to a very small spot. Very good quality from the Mint, I was impressed.
United States Mint officials would not disclose how many of the 5-ounce silver coins were produced before sales were opened. The primary reason for the delay in shipping the remaining coins is the limitation of blank supply. Mint spokesman Michael White said orders have been placed for additional blanks for coins to be produced and shipped as they become available. Also contributing to the production and shipping delays is that the Proof Apollo 11 5-ounce silver dollar has to share production time with the 5-ounce silver bullion and Uncirculated versions of the America the Beautiful quarter dollars, which are struck on the same unique press at the Philadelphia Mint. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2019/02/delays-for-5-ounce-silver-apollo-11-dollar.html
Heh - I really messed that post up. I actually ordered a proof silver dollar. I have no idea why I typed half. I was probably doing two things at once, which seems to happen more and more these days.
