    oh, okay then. But why do people say that they can also tell that it is cleaned becuase the coin is dull?

    Look at the face of Liberty. To the right of her mouth and on her cheek you can see an almost swirl pattern of light scratches. That is caused from cleaning, not naturally occuring wear.

    But, for what you paid, you did good. And, if you like it, what else matters?

    Ryan,

    There are several types of cleaning - in this case it looks like someone wiped the coin and caused the hairlines. Another type of cleaning is dipping a coin - the dipping removes a fine layer of metal off the coin. Do this enough and the coin becomes dull looking.

    cool die crack under the date as for it being cleaned just rotate the coin back and forth in your hand if you see scratches it's been cleaned
