Hi everyone, I just found this coin like 30 min. ago coin roll hunting what had been a very disgusting box of Lincoln cents. This is my best doubled die thus far and my first that isn't a zincoln so I'm stoked. Do you think this is something worth having attributed or just added to the 2x2 collection? Here is the Wexler's link for it: http://doubleddie.com/661934.html As always, appreciate the help!
Awesome, thanks coloradobryan! So in your opinion is this worth sending in to get slabbed? As long as I'm not losing money in doing so, I would like to since its by best find so far. At $50 to $100, I guess I'm going to look into it.
Id go with anacs if you just want it graded for protection and dont want to spend a lot (10 to 20 a coin). If you dont mind spending a little more to get more resale value go with NGC or PCGS.
Please post pictures once its back from slabbing!! NICE FIND!! I would have pooped myself had I found that beauty just because you can see the details clearly unaided! So cool! There are DDs out there is weird places still! Gives hunters hope!!!
Thanks man, I really appreciate your help and advice! I have another coin that I have to send to ANACS so I might just send this one in with it. I think I remember reading something about having to purchase a membership for PCGS so I'll probably pass on that.
Thanks, it was kind of weird just finding it. I'm fairly new to the hobby having just started actively searching last April. After searching through thousands of Lincoln cents this is my best find thus far and I noticed it immediately. A lot of my other doubled dies are minor and took more research and effort to confirm, but as soon as I looked closer at this one I knew it was a winner. I'll definitely post some pics when I get it back!
Appreciate it steve.e and SlipperySocks! I've never sent a coin in before and I'm getting ready to send this in tomorrow morning and have a few questions. Is it ok to send it in a padded bubble mailer like this or does it have to be sent in a box? Also, PCGS says to send it USPS registered mail. So would I purchase and print out a label for that online or just bring it as is to the post office and tell them I need to send it registered mail? Sorry for all the questions but like I said I've never done this before and don't want to screw it up. Appreciate the help!
I would put it into a security envelope with the mailing address on it first, then in the bubbled envelope just in case. Just tell them you want it sent registered mail and they will take care of it. Then you will know how to do it next time. Be sure to post pictures when it comes back!
So I just recently received this coin back from PCGS. A few people wanted me to post pics of it slabbed so I'll post a few in a couple hours. In the meantime if anyone wants to test their grading skills vs PCGS, feel free to guess the grade based off my previous pics.
