Hello to all on the forum tonight. The other day I posted a thread asking about notching with causes other than hub die doubling. This is the coin in question. My camera is not the best and these are the absolute BEST pics Ive been able to get that show any points of interest. I see doubling with notching on the RH tips of E, and the RH tip of the tail in R of LIBERTY. There is also notching at the LH botton tip of the B but I cannot get it in a pic clear enough. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance
It kind of looks like the serifs are split there but Im always wrong so not a good sign. Was your coin from a mint set? The only 71 on Wexlers... http://doubleddie.com/2274000.html ???
This is a big reason I havent asked about this coin sooner. I cant get pics good enough to show well enough what I can see plain as day through a loop. Was hoping these might be good enough but maybe not. There is definately doubling going on that is NOT your traditional flat machine doubling...guess im goin to the coin shop with it one of these days...wish it were closer...lol
Here are a few photos of the 71 DDO-001 from the CONECA Master Listings, note the photo of the listed marker, small die gouge from the top of the tail under the eagles right leg. Larry Nienaber
BINGO!!!! You sir are my hero!!! So, ive found 3 of them. Taking it that theyre not all that rare in that case...lol...I havent joined CONECA yet so I dont have access to their photos and didnt see a description that matched what I had. Anyone know if these are rare at all or hold any value?
