I know there have been threads on this, but I never really payed much attention to them, and now I need info/advice. I've had a small safe for about 18 months. It came with a desiccant package. There are instuctions on the packett for reactivating it. Something like 245 degrees for 16 hours. How exactly am I supposed to do it? How do I know when it should be done? Should I get more packetts of desiccant? Thanks,
Do it in your oven. Some desiccants change color as they collect moisture. Check the manufacturer's instructions.
There have been many threads on this. My advice is to get a couple of Eva-Dry dehumidifiers. They cost from $15 to $30 each depending on the size and whether you get a sale. Amazon.com has them. They have a color indicator so you can tell exactly when they need reactivation and you don't have to heat them in an oven. You just plug them into an electric outlet for 6-8 hours. If you have two you can always keep a fresh one in a ziplock bag and replace the one in use when the indicator turns pink. 1.
