Bald Eagle 3 Coin Proof Set Update

I checked my order status today and it's been changed from "Your Order is on Hold" to "Your order request is in process. " Very niiiiiiiice!

Any one else notice this change, or have you received your 3 coin proof set yet?

Mine has been "In stock and reserved" for a couple of weeks.

Mine finally changed too from "On Hold" to "In Process". I noticed this on Friday. I called them 2 times in the past few weeks to find out why it was on hold so long. The first time the CS rep told me that it is normal to put your order on hold for 7-10 business days, but noted that mine had been on hold much longer than that. The second time I called, the CS rep told me that they ran out of product and did not have the coins on hand to complete the orders and this was the reason that my order was on hold for so long. Have not checked it today, but I am getting frustrated. Hope to see them soon.

 

Why do people pay $45 more for the set than to buy individually? Other than the case there seems to be no good reason?

 

If you are going to break the set and have the coins slabbed, then you are probably right. Personally, I don't slab my coins and like to collect orignial mint sets, therefore I appreciate that there are only 24,999 other people that have this exact set.... To me this is worth the extra $$$$.

But trust me, at these prices I thought long and hard about the additional bucks.

 

Plus.... I really like it when the mint used to package all the coins together. It made for easy viewing and easier storage.

Why did they ever go away from packaging all the coins together and the 6 coin sets? Could it be because of costs? I can't imagine that and why would it matter anyway... they would just pass the additional costs over to the consumer.

I'm thinking about getting the special 3 coin slab from NGC (assuming that it offers that type of slab for these). It's worth the premium to me. And no, I'm not planning to slab it and flip it - this is for my collection

Got my 3-coin Baldy set today. All I can is WOW. That dollar reverse literally jumps off the coin. The gold coin is best described as elegant. The half dollar to me is a work of art, not the chicks, but the majestic eagle and the American flag are fantastic.
Had one problem though could not get the gold coin nor the half dollar out of the box. So everyone be forwarned and be very careful taking them out.

Is there anything such as a special finish on the coins in the set ???

 

I just ordered another 10 2007 ASE for 21.95 with 1 oz of silver. IMO the best deal the mint has going right now. Silver 17.25 oz today.
They will be raising the price soon.

 

I agree that's a good deal on the mint site. If you're looking for a roll of ASEs, you may want to try other places like www.apmex.com - i think it's a couple of bucks cheaper. Maybe that's just for 2008s though.
