2003 dime on copper planchet??

Well, the outer layer of a normal dime is 75% copper, so if it is at least 40%, sounds like a normal dime to me.

Pennys2, you start out with,"I think this dime was struck on a Copper penny planchet".. and you should have concluded with (I have not found any other dime like IT YET from 2003 with this appearance).
You are wrong, it is a 2003 dime with environmental damage and there may well be thousands of them in circulation (like it) at this time. Just because you have yet to find another is no reason that you won't find one tomorrow or sometime soon. Pattyman gave you the answer to your 2003 dime and it is not on a cent, place it on a cent and you will see that it is smaller than the cent, simple as that. When and if you do this try to do it for your 42 friends and the 3 coin shop dealers, they also need to be informed.

The women and men on cointalk have a combined knowledge of hundreds of years and when they tell you something about your coin or coins it is most if not always right.

Howdy Mountain Man...I can't speak for the others, but I lost money at the Casino yesterday and it is snowing out now, so I can't go back to the Casino and get my money back so I am furthering my education...along with Bud. We always enjoy the cointalk.

 

Well maybe she will want to read cointalk when she gets out of work or where ever it is she has gone...
I bet she is smart and has researched this and is now composing a apology to Paddyman and she will become a fine member of cointalk.

 

If there weren’t posts like these then I might actually have to work at work because I would be out of stuff to read.

I don't need an apology. I just want people to know that I'm doing my best and we do our best to teach the correct attribution. If he or she won't accept what we have to say then that is their problem.. Too bad! They only thing I hate is when I'm challenged or told to do something which is really childish.

 

Maybe as often as someone walks on water with lead boots on?

 

I metal detect and dig them up like that all of the time.

Felt lucky to get out of the Casino with my coat and shoes..I am just letting them hold my money for a while... not much just a few hundred dollars, but it is MINE or was.

I also accept the challenge along with Fred. You show us a photo of that coin in either ANACS, PCGS or NGC Slab listed as a struck on cent planchet and I’ll send you the cost for submission along with Fred and you’ll double your money.

Edit: if it comes back as a regular dime, I ask that you mail either me or Fred the coin in the Slab, so we can use it as a teaching tool for others. I hope you’ll find this agreeable.
