We have what we believe to be a 1984 Lincoln cent dbl ear with error. The I has dripped down to resemble a thermometer, there is slag between the othe letters. There are slag drops around the O N E. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. I think what you have there are blisters in the copper plating, can't comment on the obverse without pictures.

As suspected, it appears to be a copper plating bubble
    at the LI.

    Can't see the doubled ear

Ouch, that poor thing looks like it has been scrubbed. I see more plating blisters on the obverse.
