There IS a difference! Cleaned coins are worth 50% of an uncleaned coin's value AT BEST. Anyone that says there is no difference likely possesses cleaned coins that they are afraid to lose money on or are too embarrassed to admit that they bought or cleaned them.

I have to agree with Tbirde - cleaned coins suffer a huge decrease in value. And few of the grading companies, with the exception of ANACS who will slab the coin & net grade it with the cleaned designation on the holder; will even touch the coins. They just send them back to you in a body-bag.

Whizzing actually alters the surface of a coin and after which,it's damaged and numismatically worthless. Cleaning rarely is done without harming a coin. In both cases, they are considered "problem coins" and would be nearly impossible to resell  My advice is to avoid any problem coins and the dealer's that offer them as good. ~ Jim
