Is there a coin selling site, that is usually cheapest, that regulars would consider the best to visit regularly?? A definite source for many coins with fair pricing.. I am after just some US modern comm. coins, etc..

Where does ebay fall into this at?

    thanks,
    Steve

well...usually "coin selling websites" are a little overpriced...however here are 2 links www.littletoncoin.com and www.coinland.com , but I would suggest to a SMART e-buyer...I mean, eBay is a good place to find common coins...but you'll still want to have a little knowledge of the coins youre goin to bid in order to avoid scams...

    my 2 cents ;)

Haven't had any experience with Coinland. But the other can be very overpriced. If you do a thread search for Littleton, you will see quite a few opinions.

Ebay is actually a good source if you educate yourself before you buy there.

I would be very hesitant to suggest Littleton Coin to anyone as their prices and grading are outrageous. Purchase a coin magazine, such as Coin World or Coin Age and do some comparisons among the national dealers. I have used a few of them repeatedly and been shafted a couple of times by one, whom I threatened to sue to get a refund on a falsely advertised coin, which had been heavily cleaned and buffed. There are a lot of good dealers out there and there are also many small dealers who will sell by mail, which I have used very successfully, as they send the coins you request on consignment. If you want them you pay and if you don't, well you are only out the shipping to send them back which, for the most part, is nomimal. If you use Ebay, and I do, take the time to READ the whole auction including the SHIPPING charges and feedback. That will tell you every thing you need to know. Good luck with your new hobby!

    Littleton

Littleton has always had higher prices when I have compared them with others on the net.

Sorry postman - but there really is no good answer to your question. You can deal with 5 dealers or 50 - easily - as nobody always what you want at the price you want. Sometimes they never do.

You just have to shop around and consider all sources.

    Hi Steve,

I would try the US Mint's website.

    http://www.usmint.gov/

Unless you are very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of eBay business practices, I would strongly recommend that you stay away from that venue.

    Good luck!

    Hi Postman,
If you are looking for coins that are no longer available from the mint then you will have to go into the secondary market to find them.........this can be anything from the neighbor next door(if you happen to live close to me) to buying from online dealers or even Ebay or one of the other auction firms. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages but if you live closeby a big city, why not check out the next availabe coin show?..........usually when you put lots of coin dealers into one place for one thing(selling)........the competition can be good for both you and the seller........I would suggest that you shop around in any case but if there is a local coin dealer in your neighborhood.........why not pay him a visit or two........they usually have a decent selection and sometimes can be flexible for regular customers........
On a closing note...........the cheapest price is not always the best deal.......Good luck!!
