The terminology you are looking for is FSB or Full Split Bands. As with the Jefferson nickel steps, there can be no breaks in the bands.

No, that is not totally correct. Full Bands (FB) is the designation for Mercury Dimes at both NGC and PCGS. Roosevelt Dimes are designated Full Torch (FT) at NGC, but Full Bands (FB) at PCGS. ANACS uses FSB, Full Split Bands, for both Mercury and Roosevelt.

For the Roosevelt, the Full Bands designation is given at PCGS if both sets of horizontal lines are split. At NGC, Full Torch is only given if both sets of horizontal lines are split, *as well as all of the vertical lines.* (Yet again, the NGC designation is more strict, higher quality, and more desirable). You can see the excellent article that NGC published explaining the difference and the criteria here: https://coinweek.com/us-coins/modern-dime-designations-what-are-full-bands-and-full-torch/

Thank you for this. I am not totally up on everything I see. But I'm much better off now than I was earlier. Leave it to those derned TPG's to throw an old guy off.:)

They certainly aren't making this one easy to understand ;)
