So far, according to CoinNews, about 50% for the gold and the 5 oz. silver. The dollars and halves are faring lower (at 30% and 13%). http://www.coinnews.net/2019/01/25/apollo-11-commemorative-coin-sales-reach-296311-in-first-day/
Just got an email from the mint, my probably a dumb purchase of the four coins, (a Kennedy half is part of the set) is arriving soon. Oh well, I always was a sucker for space coins, even if they ruin my coin budget.
Thanks, The Mint post updated sales through the 27th, yesterday, here's a link. https://www.usmint.gov/about/production-sales-figures/cumulative-sales
I wonder if it's only on a proof coin that the "shadow parts" of the design indeed look really like shadows (under the proper perspective). It's really nice! Thanks for sharing.
If you bought the coin for your collection, then in my mind, it's not a dumb purchase. If you bought it thinking you can flip it and make money, then you might be right. It's all about perspective and only time will tell about long term value. I agree that things do not look good for the commems long term value when they are not an immediate sell out.
Strikes me exactly opposite. Considering the pablum the mint has been pushing on us for years. I find this to be rather inspiring.
Mine arrive today - 5oz, gold uncirc, and half sets (5). Really thought those sets would sell out in minutes! Oh well...
The first bass I ever bought in the Army in Germany back in 1978. The famous bass builder "Johnny Pro"... LOL.... I spent a year on the internet chasing that old friend down.
