Found this cool 1963-D lincold cent in some change. its in really great shape and its edges are really sharp and detailed. Yet its missing most of its copper plating. There is no real pattern to it either. What could this be?

It doesn't appear to be acid. Does it have pit's where the affected discoloration of the coin is?

63 cents arent plated they are solid copper. well a mix of .950 copper and .050 tin and zinc

looks like it may have been heated up

If it were heated the obverse and reverse would have similar discoloration. Let's wait on the pictures. I have seen one similar.

Im not sure if this is a better pic. this is about as good as my scanner will do. The line between the discoloration is straight until u hit the bottom of his suit jacket, then it kind of tapers of towards the side hes facing. The planchet is mostly smooth.

looks like it got sprayed with primer or white spray paint to me.

It's not sprayed. It is indeed missing its coloring.

You don't appear to understand - it cannot be "missing" its color - the coin is made of a solid copper alloy. It is the same color all the way through.

Whatever it is, the whitish color is on top of the coin.

I agree. What ever caused the discoloration of this coin is "Post Mint". It isn't a error nor is it's value increased.

100% positive == Post mint damage.
