I've been watching the Tunisian and Beninese coins on eBay. I think I'll have to get the Tunisia one for sure.
Got this in the mail last week. It came from a Heritage auction a couple of weeks ago. Pictures and description are there's. German States Hamburg-Ducat Composition: Gold Fineness: 0.9860 Weight: 3.5000g Subject: 300th Anniversary of the Reformation Note: Prev. KM#302; KM#M1. Hamburg. Free City gold "300th Anniversary of the Reformation" Ducat. A splendid, flashy type, displaying some scattered signs of handling as one might expect for this talisman celebrating the Protestant Reformation.
A new pickup for my classic Hungarian type set (1848-1945). This is an upgrade from my previous MS61. Hungary 1849NB 3 Krajczár (1849) War of Independence KM-434 NGC MS64 BN Copper 26g, 32.5mm x 4mm This 3 krajczár is a one-year type struck only at Nagybánya (NB). It is an uncommon coin, but scarce in high grades (this MS64 example is 2/0 in the pop reports). It's a rather pleasing large copper coin with a decorative edge. Weak strikes, planchet composition issues, and sometimes fairly significant lamination problems are the norm with this issue.
My latest. This particular coin is one I have been trying to obtain for years. The last one I purchased went missing in the bowels of the "ISC New York" last year. I found another that arrived today. So without looking at the rest of the coin, does this scream "cast" to you?
They are good looking coins. I suspect some or all may have been cleaned a bit some time in the past. Keepers none the less!
Here's another rare Polish 100 zlotych I picked up, along with a 1929 Thai 50 satang. I love the elephant.
Thailand... I also really like the elephant on these 2 coins... Thailand 1929 50 Satang 1/2 Baht a fantastic elephant coin. I love it.
A couple new pickups: These are silvered bronze medals from the 1867 Hungarian coronation of Franz Joseph. These are difficult to find with this much of the silver plating intact. The 31mm example seems to be a one off piece and it's significantly harder to find than some of the other similar medals. 31mm The 38mm one seems to be part of a series with around 10 different patriotic dies that were then paired together in a variety of ways. I believe I have almost all of the 38mm varieties, but this was one of the ones I had been missing as I didn't have any examples that used this obverse die. I'm sure they are listed in some world medals catalog but I haven't found the reference yet. If you know it please message me. 38mm
