This coin is black only on the obverse and reverse. The rim is beautiful and shiny. The black on the coin also has a nice shiny luster. I have researched this error on my own but do not come across it often and would love to learn more about them. Below are quite a few pictures with the best lighting and quality i can offer. Just so I have it right in case I run across one, is the edge supposed to be clean and shiny like a regular coin or is it supposed to be cooked like the O&R?
Oh come on @Rick Stachowski! Lol. Can you vague that up just a little more? I go through boxes of Quarters, Nickels and Dimes occasionally and would love to find some of these.
Ok . Some will be lustier ( black ) . Some will be coppery looking like this . But, the rim will always look original ( red & silver ) looking . Why ? cause when the rim gets struck, it will show the original surface ..
