I think they’re looking the other way. I feel they should be marked clearly as copy or they fall as a counterfeit imagine all the problems and confusion that will happen 50 years from now with these fakes. When time dulls the knowledge. Personally I think they should be indelibly stamped copy or destroyed
Nothing to argue about with CAC or PCGS vs NGC on US coins either. That's really the feeling trifecta when you include them and Carr. The governments actions and the market speaks for itself
You are just rehashing what was rehashed in two lengthy threads over the past 3 weeks. I’m sorry you’re so bored that you have nothing better to do than see what you can stir up. Despite your so-called good reason to start this thread, I’m still bright enough to think your intention is otherwise.
The guy found a way around the laws and it's too late to stop it. The hobby is divided on the topic and that will never change. Now we have folks that bring up the topic just to stir the pot and create problems. Most in the hobby could care less and don't even want to hear about it any longer. All the talk has increased the demand for the product. Some that keep bringing up the topic are trying to protect the investment they have made in the product. To me, this is like many other areas of the hobby. Collect it if you like or just ignore it if you don't.
I agree with everything except for your first sentence. He didn't find a way around the law; he simply ignores the law and has done so with impunity at least for now.
and thus it goes back to my previous statement in the other threads ... Why don't the ppl that disagree with what he's doing file a motion in court. Then all those same people can stop complaining.
Why have we had 3 separate threads on this guy in the last 2 weeks? I'm sick of this. Drop it. Or respond to one of the other threads. The next person to start a Dcarr thread is going on my ignore list.
The coin posted does not even look like a cent of the period. The head is copied from the half cent. Plus, there were never any 1815-dated cents made (or at least none that have ever been found). So, the piece in question is not a counterfeit or even a replica. It's a work of art (or a work of craft if you prefer). If he'd made one that actually looked like a cent on the obverse, I might have considered buying one.
I agree with that. I don't even watch the news anymore. Waste of time. There is nothing happening there but more bickering about anything and everything. The Dcarr issue is more of the same.
Do notice how the in some cases the exact same folks who whine about such threads were also the first to happily take this one down the same road they claim to despise. And threats of going on an ignore list? Please... don’t like the subject? Simply ignore it; no public announcements necessary.
They can't, and therein lies the rub. If they could, perhaps they would have, but legally they are without standing. They cannot be plaintiffs against DC for anything. They have no standing. And unless a gov't type entity decides to prosecute him for whatever reason, he can continue to do what he's been doing. My guess, is the worst that will happen is that at some time in the future, he might be directed to place 'copy' on his coins. And my guess is, then he will simply decide not to produce the ones he is directed to place 'copy' on, therefore preserving the rep he has for these fantasy coins and not diluting his brand. But until someone decides he is worth prosecuting or going after for future restrictions, everyone who is complaining here is getting themselves upset over something they have no control over. And the only good that can come of that for themselves is the satisfaction they get by being visibly moral on a forum.
And the bad — that I suspect has already happened — is that some very good contributing members get sick of this repetitive nonsense and move on elsewhere.
Very Popular Topic this year. IMO, he has some very creative, well done specimens in addition to the controversial pieces. I do own a few of his over strikes. I like what @ldhair, posted: Collect it if you like or just ignore it if you don't.
