Hi alison52, welcome to the forum. There where some 1862 20 dollar British Columbia patterns that are silver, mintage 15,000. One of our Canadian forum members may be able to help you further. Lou
There were 5 gold patterns struck that match the picture in Krause but I see no silver versions mentioned. Are they mentioned in Charlton LSM ? Just looking at the pic though, it appears to be a copy to me.
Doug, they're mentioned in the standard catalog of world coins 1801 - 1900 KM# Pn3 for the silver and KM# Pn4 for the gold. Lou
Ahhhh, so it is - need to read closer It does say only 5 to 10 pieces struck though. Where'd you get that 15,000 number from ? Still think this is a copy though, all details are mushy and there looks ot be a casting ridge around the edge.
It seems that your not the only one that needs to read closer, the 15,000 is the value. My catalog makes no mention of the amount of struck. Lou
alison 52 I too have one of these coins and am trying to find some info on it's origin. Did you find out anything when you posted. Thanks Rob H
