Still see the folds in her dress. The lines in the shield. The word liberty. I have All different angles. Can this grade be xf? Or Maybe better?
It's a Fine. F15, probably. Deeply struck example, but to be XF you'd need to have a full LIBERTY and detail visible on the inside of the reverse leaves.
Not mine... but it should give you an idea of wear patterns on these for different grades. See the rims? The drapery? Look at Ms. Liberty's foot. That should help.
I’m at vf 20. It’s a o mint. Probably struck from worn dies. Deeply struck but not well detailed in the head etc. nice original skin too that pre war southern silver saw a lot of use. Probably saw the pocket of more than one confederate soldier. I like it
I think the best you'd do on that is a low VF. But it's still a terrific coin to have in your collection and one you should definitely hold on to.
Yes those are rare to have. I want one so bad. But the price they go for are expensive. Very nice though.
By the standards I learned under it would be a VG 10. To be a Fine LIBERTY had to be complete but some letters could be weak. The OP coin doesn't quite make Fine. 86 posts to go.
Thank y'all. Just the black background really brought out most of the details in her dress. Made it very pretty.
More like F-15 as Liberty is missing some letters. It was a well struck coin judging by the wear and the remaining detail.
get a copy of the book PHOTOGRADE. It is very helpful for grades up to AU. You need other books for MS grades.
