I just got email from Monument Metals offering to pay $75 over the Mint price for orders of five pucks. That's not $75 per puck; it's $1200 for an unopened box of 5 that costs $1124.75 from the Mint. Seems a bit underwhelming. Has anyone seen a better offer? I'm not looking to help the biggies circumvent the household limit myself, but I'm curious about the level of enthusiasm for these. I'm planning to get at least one for myself, but if there were likely to sell out and shoot up, I might consider getting more than one. If I had to predict, I'd expect a sellout (but not an instant one), a modest bump up over the next few weeks, and then a fall back to the issue price or slightly under. But I'm not confident enough in that prediction to just wait and buy in the aftermarket.
I'll offer this. In almost fifty years of collecting, I have never not once purchased from the mint. Today I am and I do have a 5 oz. puck on my wish list..... I have no earthly idea what the future holds for these, but I do believe it is a popular subject matter and I believe the mint executed the design quite well. But in the end.... PM's are just that... PM's..... I just don't know. I want one for me and I don't expect that it will retain its initial investment cost. Just my feel.
Product limit 100K, household limit 5 on the half set -- I think it'll sell out, but I'm not sure how "instant" it can be with 20000 or more orders required to buy them all.
Some hype, sure. But less hype than I've seen for other releases, maybe, and more emotional investment for a lot of us.
the 5 oz puck is now on backorder Everything else is still available. with an expected instock date of May 1
I got 1 of each item on my order entered. Yea! We will see what the confirmation says in a few minutes. I hope I got in on everything.
Ordered the 5 oz and the proof gold. Got an acknowledgement on both. Waiting for confirmation. Says "You will receive a confirmation email with more details within 24 hours."
I got all my order in and my card has been charged. But the puck says it will ship in May. Must not have been quick enough on the draw.
Yea I get the emotional aspect. I was 15 at the time. I remember seeing the Apollo Spacecraft traveling across the lighted surface of the moon with my telescope as a teenager. I'll probably but one coin just because of that.
I got a similar offer from "Coins Since 1995" in Portland, Oregon. They were elusive about what they'd pay - "At this time WE CAN DEFINITELY guarantee a profit on the next 200 coins and we are still determining how large that profit will be" Yeah, right.
I just received my confirmation, 1 of every item offered! Glad I get remind me notifications from the Mint, they seem to allow connecting quicker. I have not been shut out on any offerings, since the Remind Me option is available.
Hmm. I placed two orders, and got "order received" emails on both. I've gotten a separate confirmation email for the first one (with pucks and halves), but it doesn't say anything about a shipping date. I assume that if it doesn't say anything about back-order status, it's good news...?
Mine comes exactly at 12:00. I never get them before ordering time. I have been ordering from them since the 60's.
